The Best Week to Sell Your Home in 2024: Why You Should List Now

If selling your house is on your to-do list this year, the time to start prepping is now. As a top real estate agent in the South Bay Area, I’m always keeping an eye on market trends, and the best week to list your home is fast approaching.

A recent Realtor.com study analyzed years of housing market data (excluding 2020 due to its anomalies) and found that April 13–19 is projected to be the ideal window for sellers in 2024:

“. . . we’ve identified April 13–19 as the best week to list for sellers . . . A seller listing a well-priced, move-in ready home is likely to find success. Because spring is generally the high season for real estate activity and buyers are more plentiful earlier rather than later in the year, listing earlier in the spring raises a seller’s odds of a successful sale.”

Why Is This Week So Important?

Spring is historically a strong season for sellers, but listing during this prime window could give you an even greater advantage. According to Realtor.com, sellers who list their homes this week could benefit from:

✔ More Buyer Interest: Demand is high, meaning your home will likely attract serious buyers quickly.
✔ Faster Sales: With summer around the corner, many buyers are eager to close deals sooner rather than later.
✔ Higher Offers: The study found that homes listed during this week could sell for an average of $4,800 more than other times in spring—and $27,000 more than homes listed earlier in the year.

Want to Sell During This Prime Week? Act Now!

With just a few weeks left before April 13–19, now is the time to start preparing. Here’s where working with an experienced South Bay Area real estate expert (like me!) comes in. I can help you:

  • Identify which home improvements will have the most impact on buyers.
  • Prioritize quick fixes and staging tips that boost your home’s value.
  • Strategically price your home to maximize offers and attract motivated buyers.

While major renovations may not be feasible in a short time, small, high-impact updates can make a difference. According to Redfin, quick projects like fresh paint, deep cleaning, decluttering, and boosting curb appeal can help your home sell faster and for more money.

Not Ready Just Yet? There’s Still Time!

If April 13–19 doesn’t work for you, don’t stress. While this week is statistically the best time to sell, the South Bay market remains strong throughout spring and summer. If you need more time, I can help you build a customized plan to prepare your home for sale on your timeline.
